I'm a pretty simple guy. I like riding my bike, watching football games especially my favorite team, hanging out with my kids and being with the person or the people I love the most. With those things on most given days I'm completely content.
Recently though I've noticed that I prefer to live my life in a very structured way. A way that my days are ruled by routine. The same way of doing things etc... and in the past it's really worked for me.
Before I decided to leave work for school my days could be summed up pretty quickly. I'd wake up, brush my teeth, have some coffee, get in to my cycling gear and ride to work. I'd eat breakfast there on my first break and than maybe have lunch or I'd skip it for a large dinner after riding home. The next day I'd repeat the same thing.
I'll admit I'm not the best with change but I can tolerate it if I can quickly make it into part of the routine. The issue is sometimes changes are flying around so fast that it's impossible to do that. When that happens I feel incredibly unstable and have a difficult time wrapping my head around things because my head is just spinning around like the tornado ride at a carnival.
I hope to learn how to deal with daily change better this coming year or at least find a way to calm those changes to the point where I can manage them better. Maybe this should be one of my resolutions.
