Salsa Casseroll

About two weeks ago I bid on a bike off of Ebay and by some stroke of luck won the auction. The bike is a 53cm Salsa Casseroll which measures more like a 56cm frame due to the long top tube. It arrived on Saturday and I built it up and took it out for a maiden voyage to work today. I like the bike because of it's versitality. It is currently set up as a single speed but if need be I can add some derailleurs and a rear wheel with a cassette for touring etc. Another great thing is that it has gobs of clearance for large tires and fenders which makes it an ideal poor weather and commuter bike as well.

Currently it's built pretty much stock with 1 1/4 inch thick tires which I will be changing for some 700x28c Panaracers. The current tires really lack good "gription in the corners" which really scares the living crap out of me. The last thing I want is to land on my shoulder and have to undergo another surgery. It's bad enough that I had a shoulder replace before age 40.

Today I rode 25 miles round trip to work on it and it felt pretty good. I did have to adjust the handlebars again when I got home but nothing major. Looking forward to riding again tomorrow. Hoping the weather holds out.

Tim
