Weekends with Morgan

My daughter is 12 years old. I love her to death. She's my little hero as I find her to be pretty tough when the time comes for that to come forth. She's been through a lot. She has an older brother who's 16 who takes a lot of the attention at home which is a shame because Morgan is a special young lady. Don't get my wrong I love both my children the same I just feel more connected to Morgan.

Last night on the way home from her friends house she told me that she doesn't talk to her mom and brother much. She said that the attention is always on him. Thus reinforcing my feelings. I asked what she meant and she said, "I just wish someone would ask me how my day goes for a change." It broke my heart when she said that, I thought to myself how unfair. So, I told her that I'd make it a point to call her everyday to ask exactly that and I promised to keep my door open to her always.

Today we did something that she has been wanting to do for the last year or so and that was go to the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. We really had a good time. Afterward we walked around Old Sac and stop by a friends candy shop for soft serve ice cream. It all sounds really simple but for us I think it was special. I do miss seeing my kids more. I wish they understood that.
