It's March and my club does an event to ride as much as you can this month. I got off to a good start by riding with some club mates last night on the bike trail. It's been a while since I've done a night ride. I forgot how dark the Sacramento Parkway can be at night. Even with the full moon you really cannot see anything without a light.
The first half went really well. I had borrowed a helmet light and it was lighting my way really well. The only other light I had was a Cateye LED mounted on my fork to see imperfections on the trail. I liked the helmet light as the parkway is curvy and you can light up things before turns. Unfortunately, the battery started to die at the end and I found myself seriously under let. I did make it back just fine but I think I'll be considering a nice high power helmet light for these kinds of rides before I do any more.
