The holidays have changed, time to make different kinds of memories

I spent my Thanksgiving with a friend today rather than at home with all of my family. I needed the day away I think. Lately, my family has been fractured. My oldest brother lives in southern California now and I'm living with my mom and sister temporarily while I finish school. My kids spent this year with their mom so even if I spent it at home I'd be with my Mom, sister and niece. Which doesn't exactly leave a huge amount of people to celebrate with.

It looks to be the same way this year for the Christmas Holiday as well. With the the exception that I have my kids on Christmas Eve. As with Thanksgiving, I'm not feeling overly joyful about spending that evening at home unless my whole family is there. Because of this I've decided to do something alone with just my kids. I know it will be unconventional but for the three of us I think it is time to make our own memories.
