YIKES!

Tomorrow I'm back on the floor at clinical. It has been a long time working in med surge and even though I've been on this rotation now for 3 weeks I've only cared for one patient. The other days I shadowed a nurse, watched an open heart surgery and observed in the cardio cath lab.

Tomorrow looks to be hellish though as I have not one patient but two and between them looked up 20 plus medications and a third of those I've never given a patient. I enjoy nursing a great deal but what is up with these super sick people, sheesh.

This is giving me a good glimps though as to what specialty I'd like to persue and right now if asked I could easily tell you what I don't want. That being in Med Neuro, L and D, or telemetry. If I stay in Med Surge I'll probably take any job in an ICU or something that can lead there or a job in Ped's. I happen to like kids the most as they can be sick but so hopeful that it makes it worth doing. The only other specialty that I really liked was Psych but the concern with that is I may get pidgeon holed and not be able to move later if I get bored or discover it really isn't for me.

I have a lot to think about though over the next 9 months. Hopefully when I set for my license I'll have a better grasp of what I want.
